The Media Center is celebrating National Poetry Month. Throughout the month there will be a poetry walk around the school building. The walk will be available through Friday, May 2nd. Poetry boards for our elementary feature classic nursery rhymes as well as alternative poems spoken in the same rhythm as the classics. For our upper elementary students, there are poems that coordinate with the classics as well. The middle school/high school boards feature poetry from classic poets like Emily Dickenson and William Shakesphere. Each MS/HS board also has a QR Code which can be scanned that will lead you to a youtube video featuring an artist who has turned the classic poems into songs. There are lots of different music genres from folk, rap, hip-hop, alternative, ect.. Mrs. Voge encourages any community members who would like to visit the walk as well to take advantage of the warmer spring weather and sunshine and immerse themselves into the world of poetry for a stroll. Community members please try to visit the walk outside of school hours which are Monday-Friday 7:30a-3:30p
There are 10 stops for Elementary boards, and 12 Middle school High school. The stops are shown on the map below. If you scan all of the QR Codes and listen fully it will be roughly
38 minutes of listening.
