I am originally from Washington Court House, Ohio in Fayette County. I attended Wright State University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of English in Education, Adolescent/Young Adult, Grades 7-12. I have also taught English 385 Young Adult Literature for five quarters at Wright State University. I satisfy the criteria for HQPD (Highly Qualified Professional Development), thus I am a Highly Qualified teacher. I continue to take advantage of Professional Development opportunities in an effort to improve my teaching and my students.
Students in my classes will develop skills in integrated language arts: reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language. The content covered in my courses will meet the Common Core State Standards set forth by the Ohio Department of Education, as well as the standards in practice set forth by the National Council of Teachers for English. My mission is to motivate students to develop higher-level thinking skills and become life-long learners.
On a personal note, on August 8th I celebrated my eight year wedding anniversary with my husband. We have fraternal twin 6-year-old girls named Cheyenne and Mackenzie, and we have a four-year-old girl named Emma. We also have two dogs (JD - Boston Terrier and Bruser - Rottweiler/Boxer), and a variety of other animals including chickens, a pot-belly pig, and a chinese goose.
I look forward to teaching an outstanding community of learners for the 2016-2017 school year.
